YOUTH IN THE CHURCH: An article by BONS

Majority of the Christian youth in this present Day are just a little bit different from the youth in the world. I am not trying to say being vogue or classic in style is a sin but I only emphasizing on our way of worship. There is little or no difference in so many services to a club fiesta. The part of the service many of we Youth are interested in is the praise and worship section. “The glory of the youth is their strength” but we have forgotten that it is only limited to the jamboree aspect. It cut across every aspect of our service to GOD.
Talking on the praise and worship segment, we are to worship God in spirit and in truth. But nowadays, majority of our worship is for Eye service. When the praise and worship is for Thirty minutes, we divide it into worship- 5 minute while praise takes the rest. Truly we are to praise God with everything within us but so many of us don’t really understand the concept of the praise. The worship section should be made a kind of 10-12 minutes because we are able to communicate with God Solemnly with our heart and song. If we can observe that wonders and miracles occur when you worship God to the fullest with your whole heart.
Meanwhile, we’ve accrued majority of our praise section for ourselves and not God. That is where you see uncouth dance step which are not befitting for a Christian organization among the youth. I really love dancing but I’m just saying we should know the origin of a dance before inculcating it.
After the praise and worship section, other service turns lukewarm for many youth especially the prayer section. That is when you see youth discussing when prayers are going on. Before you know, some will start blabbing in language they call tongues. I am not condemning speaking in tongues. It is for genuine Christians working in the spirit realm. Speaking in tongue is not learnt, it comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit and if the Holy Spirit is in you, you won’t find it easy making useless discussion during crucial hours.
We rarely come for Bible Study but we are always present in praise hours and nights. I am not saying praise hours and night is bad, but we should know there is time for everything. As a youth, when you are confronted by the Devil and his wiles, what will you use in defending yourself? We need to understand the precept of the word. We have forgotten that the word of God is sharper than two edged sword. Remember the psalmist “…THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET…”  Majority of the youth are found missing during Bible Study and they never count it as anything! All they are concerned about is speaking in tongues.
No wonder you see many sisters in the church with skimpy skirts, sleeveless tops and earrings big enough to be made a Handcuff speaking in tongues and raising their so called holy hands. They have forgotten the part of the Bible that says “…be modest in your appearance…” Truly God deals with the inner man but he also needs the OUTER MAN to get the INNER MAN at work.
The brothers are also in the vogue of some indecent dressing. You wore a trouser with shredded part in the knee. Some call it crazy jeans and they are right. You call yourself a worker in his vineyard yet you tint your hair-it seems God made a mistake there right? Your hairstyle is nothing to write home about. I am not condemning hairstyle but we’ve got to be modest in it. How can you call yourself a Christian and your hairstyle are like that of a Christmas cock? We have to know the origin of things before going into it. I once saw a brother in the choir with part of his black hair tinted brown with some assorted things on him. What amazed me was that he was gone in the spirit {I can’t justify that} he was speaking in tongues to the extent of rolling on the floor. I was moved to the core but his appearance dismantled it! He has a very nice voice but his countenance at the end of the service showed his characters. What a Gift…
I am not against being classic in style. I love being in vogue. I’m just saying let be modest in all things though we come across different things, we are not to consume everything.
“And he that doubts is damned if he eat. Because he eats not of faith: for whatsoever is not of the faith is sin… {ROMANS 14:23}”
“Walk in the spirit. Do not gratify the desire of the flesh… {GALATIANS 5:28}”
This is my little submission…Thank you!
